SirviS Blocks: Enhancing the Managed Services Model

Managed services have become an industry standard for the acquisition of IT support. Unlike traditional break/fix services, which are based on a straightforward fee-for-service arrangement, managed services provide proactive IT maintenance for a fixed monthly fee. The model not only smooths out costs but helps ensure the IT environment is reliable and performing optimally.

A qualified managed services provider (MSP) will engage in a strategic relationship with the customer, helping to modernize IT operations to better support new business models and a hybrid workforce. Not surprisingly, nearly 75 percent of businesses surveyed recently by Ernst & Young say they plan to partner with an MSP for assistance with their cloud, mobile and edge computing strategies.

However, some managed services programs leave gaps that create business and financial risk. If a problem arises that falls outside the contract, organizations are faced with additional costs. SirviS Blocks are designed to close those gaps with comprehensive coverage for a wide range of devices.

Fully Bundled Solution

Most managed services plans include regular, proactive device maintenance to ensure that the infrastructure is up-to-date and secure. Software upgrades and patches are applied monthly or quarterly according to vendor releases and recommendations, and threat-related emergency patches are installed as required.

Around-the-clock remote monitoring is a hallmark of a well-defined managed services plan. Technicians use secure remote monitoring and management tools to detect outages in devices and network links. The client is notified and/or the MSP team provides troubleshooting and problem resolution.

SirviS Blocks go further with real-time awareness that is integrated with SIEM and SOC platforms. Privileged access management and configuration management are incorporated into the solution according to corporate policies and audit compliance requirements. Billed monthly, these highly customizable plans offer coverage for servers, storage, networking and security devices.

SirviS recognizes that break/fix services are still needed to handle unexpected conditions. In addition to the monitoring and maintenance associated with traditional managed services, SirviS Blocks include end-to-end break/fix support by our engineering team with remote hands for troubleshooting and 24x7 response. Customers can also utilize a “bucket of hours” for ad hoc engineering and configuration support, including Routing/Switching changes, firewall rules changes and changes to wireless domains.

Value-Added Services

Vendor support management is a key element of the SirviS block offering. Our engineers work with the vendor’s technical team as needed to facilitate rapid problem resolution. We also handle the RMA process for failed devices and configure new devices from backups.

Monthly reporting summarizes data captured by monitoring tools, including uptime of all covered devices and a summary of any faults detected. Performance recommendations help customers make better decisions about device maintenance.

SirviS Blocks offer financial support as well as expert engineering services. We can incorporate the hardware lease as part of the service, providing one monthly opex bill for the entire solution.

Managed services are proven to enhance IT performance, reliability and security while creating a more predictable budget. However, some managed services programs fall short of a full solution. SirviS offers managed services for organizations of all sizes, ranging from basic monitoring to fully bundled device solutions and everything in between. SirviS Blocks focus on mission-critical devices in the data center to provide a comprehensive solution.
